David Riddle:

Brings a unique ability to visualize completed projects long before construction has started. Hands on design philosophy which guarantees the client receives a practical tested design. David is also a well respected member of the SA PGA and has competed all over the world.  This combination of experience and vision is what makes David Riddle Design golf courses unique.  

Completed Projects

Pretoria Golf Club

In 2003 Pretoria Golf Club needed their tee boxes upgraded as the existing tee boxes had lost their shape and were small by today`s standards. Fourteen tee boxes were designed and in all cases the natural terrain was used to enhance the aesthetics of the area and improve the overall playability of the hole. The project was a resounding success and David Riddle Design was established.

Ntnari

After the successful redesign of Pretoria Golf Club, Eiland holiday resort approached us for the design of an eighteen hole golf course in the Limpopo Province. The project was completed and the design accepted by the Board.  Currently the project is on hold pending water issues in the area.

Akasia

David Riddle Design assisted Akasia Golf Club and the Thswane City Council in the shaping and placing of dams for the control of the flood lines in the area. This project offered us a unique challenge in that vast amounts of soil had to be relocated on the course. We had the task of shaping this soil whilst still keeping the integrity of the course intact. In addition to this, the club asked us to come up with ways to improve the safety of players on the course as many of the holes were originally designed too close together. Once again the end result was a success and the feed back from all players was, and continues to be, positive.

Current Projects

Legend Golf and Safari Resort

This is with out a doubt the most exciting project taking place at the moment in South Africa. Over the past year we have consulted with DDV Design Group on an 18 hole championship golf course. Set at the foot of the Waterberg on Entabeni Game Reserve, with the magnificent Hang Lip providing the back drop for the course, this golf course promises to be one of the most talked about golfing destinations in the world. Golf course construction has started and the course will open in late 2008 or early 2009. Part of this project is the worlds` longest par 3 that will be played from a vertical drop of 400m from the top of Hang Lip mountain and only accessible with a helicopter: The Legend Extreme 19th . This will be the most talked about golf hole in the world. Watch this space for details.

Midrand Estates

This unique project is for the design of a par 3 golf course. The course will allow golfers to play 10 holes in 90 minutes, each hole a par 3 with varying length; some as short as 90m, requiring a wedge to reach the target, to 240m for the longest hole. The idea is to allow golfers to play a round in less than two hours whilst still giving the player the opportunity to fine tune his game by playing holes of varying lengths. This will also be a wonderful lifestyle facility in that it is a perfect opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a round of golf together.
